Counting, adding and writing

 Bonjour, les parents!

Over the last weeks, the students have been learning and practising:  decomposing numbers, additions, representing numbers in Mathematics.  Weekly, each student chooses a collection of items to count.  First, the students estimate a sum, then, choose a method of counting (by 1's, 2's, 5's).  Finally, the student illustrates how the groups were counted.  See below for pictures.  

Many of you have already seen the work that the students completed in studying rural and urban communities.  After having "built" a community, the students wrote sentences from.a framework in the agenda.  Prior to writing, a framework "Dans une communauté urbaine/rurale, je vois..." Then, the class brainstormed ideas about what they would see in an urban community.  In completing the sentences, Grade One's were expected to choose one word from the list and Grade Two's chose three words.
